Today I’m sharing 7 habits that you can start today! While there is certainly no shortage of information available on tips for living a healthy lifestyle, I’ve put together a list of my top seven habits are easier to do and apply to everyone.
1. Drink at Least 8 Glasses of Water a Day
You’ve all heard it before but this is by far the most important tip to follow. The recommended water consumption can vary based on many factors such as weight, age, gender, physical activity level and even the climate that you live in. But 8 glasses a day is the minimum. The benefits of water consumption are endless.
- Increases Brain Power and Provides Energy
- Flush Out Toxins
- Improves Your Complexion
- Helps Regulate Your Body Temperature
- Improves Your Heart Health
2. Drink one glass of green tea a day.
Along with drinking enough water green tea is also a good addition to your diet. Switching coffee out with tea whenever possible will help you feel more energetic and help cut out the added sugars and saturated fats that are present in most lattes, iced coffees, and cappuccinos.
3. Unplug For 2 hours a Day
Spend the first hour after you wake up and an hour before you go to sleep with your phone turned off or in airplane mode. This will help you start your day off on the right foot without the constant stress from emails, texts, and phone calls. Your sleep schedule will improve and you will most likely find that it is easier to fall asleep at night.
4. Have a Morning and Night Routine
Having a routine creates consistency in your daily life. It also allows you to make time for the things that are important to you and make you happy.
5 Eat 5 Servings of Fruits and Vegetables Per Day
Fruits and veggies are packed with antioxidants that our bodies need to function. Getting 5 servings every single day can be difficult. If you struggle with this try to incorporate more smoothies. Drinking your greens can be a fast and tasty way to incorporate more fruits and veggies into your daily diet.
Being a college student it’s hard to find time to read books that interest me outside of my assigned course reading. After I started making reading a priority in my life by incorporating it into my morning routine I started seeing positive changes. If sitting down and to read a book you enjoy is difficult to fit into your schedule try listening to your books through audible.com. You can listen while you are doing tasks that you normally do throughout the day like commuting to work, exercising, or cleaning.
