I’m Engaged! // Our Proposal Story

Hi friends!

Surprise! It happened! My favorite guy put a ring on my finger and now we’re getting married!!! I’ve been staring at my laptop screen forever trying to figure out what I want to say, but how exactly do you put the best day of your life into words?!

I want to start this post with the biggest and most sincere thank you. I’ve overwhelmed with joy, excitement, and love. Thank you to each one of you who has reached out to me to congratulate me this past week. I appreciate each one of your comments, emails, and dms.

First, let’s  start from the beginning.

I met my fiancé (eek!) when I was about 12 or 13. We had a lot of mutual friends and quickly developed a friendship ourselves. I almost immediately developed a crush on him. He was fun, handsome, smart, tall, athletic, and one of the most caring people I have ever met. Throughout high school, we remained friends as we were both in relationships with other people but always (secretly) had feelings for each other. As high school came to a close we both ended our long-term relationships and he joined the military and I went off to college.

On May 25, Chase asked me to go on a date with him when he was home on leave and the rest is pretty much history. We had wanted to be together for so long and everything just kind of fell into place. We made things official on May 30 and we soon began talking to each other every possible second of every day. He was so easy to trust and laugh with and before I knew it he was doubling as my boyfriend and best friend. We filled our weeks with countless facetime dates and every 2 weeks or so he would make an 8-hour drive from Mississippi to Indiana to spend the weekend with me. At some point, I remember thinking that I would be an idiot not to marry him.

The Proposal

As soon as I got out of school for Christmas break I flew down to Mississippi to spend a week with him. After that he took leave and we came home for the holidays for another week or so. On December 23 I spent the morning with my family and then I went over to Chase’s parents’ house to see his grandma who was in town. After that, we went downtown to grab dinner and look at the Christmas lights. After dinner, we went to the monument circle and I quickly saw all of our close friends and family. I was so excited that everything after that is pretty much a blur. He told me told much he loved me then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and of course, I said YESSS! Easiest yes of my life.

We then grabbed hot chocolate with our friends and family. After that, I was completely overwhelmed and do not remember much else, except being extremely and undeniably happy. That night I couldn’t help but thank God for bringing the most perfect man into my life at the most perfect time in the most perfect way, and I pray that he continues to bless us in our engagement, wedding and most importantly our marriage.

I’m so excited to spend forever with someone who makes me feel so loved every second of every day. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all of your sweet messages and well wishes!
